Find the right Manatee County criminal record source

Manatee County criminal records can refer to different official products. Court case records, a Manatee County Sheriff adult background check, and a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) criminal history check are separate services. The correct route depends on whether you need a court file, a local law-enforcement check, or statewide criminal-history information.

The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller provides access to court records. Public searches can use identifiers such as a person's name, case number, or citation number. A court search result and a document copy are different: access to individual documents depends on the Clerk's public-access rules.

Access court documents, locked documents, and copies

Some court documents are not immediately available as ordinary online images. A document marked View on Request (VOR) is a locked document requiring an additional access step; a VOR lock does not by itself mean the document is confidential. For eligible VOR documents, use the Clerk access workflow and follow the request prompt, including the available contact/request option shown for the document.

Confidential or restricted documents remain subject to their own access rules. If a document is restricted, the requester may need the required eligibility or authorization before an order can be completed.

Order copies and certified court records

Viewing a court record and ordering a certified copy serve different purposes. For eligible records, registered users can use the Clerk e-certification workflow, select Certified Print, place eligible items in the cart, and complete the order process.

The Clerk publishes applicable charges including $1 per page for copies, $2 for certification, and $2 per year searched when a case number is not provided.

Choose between Sheriff adult checks and FDLE history products

A Manatee County Sheriff adult background check is different from a court copy. The adult background check request requires identifying information including first name, last name, date of birth, race, sex, and former surnames when applicable. The listed mail request charge is $2 per person, mail requests require a self-addressed stamped envelope, personal checks and credit cards are not accepted, and listed public-record hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

For statewide Florida criminal-history information, use FDLE. The FDLE public criminal-history check has a $24 base fee. FDLE Instant Search adds a $1 processing fee and is not certified.
